The General Technologies TA500 multisystem ignition analyzer with its unique technology, enables its user to perform several tasks reliably and quickly. These include diagnostics of non-starts, misfires, damaged or fouled up spark plug wires and/or sparkplugs themselves.
The TA500 works by comparing the spark burn time and spark plug voltage readings between the engine cylinders. As it makes use of inductive pick up technology to measure voltage and current, it works well with systems such as Coil near Plug, Coil on Plug, Distributor-less ignition systems (DIS), conventional distributor ignition coil and magneto ignition systems.
This handheld wireless device is very easy to use as it does not require any special adapters, a scope or cables. Further, it comes with a digital display that is large enough to show readings such as spark burn time, spark plug voltage, RPM and minimum/maximum in real time.
The tachometer functions offered by the TA500 Smartach COP of General Technologies include the following:
{tab How to use}
The simple and easy to use handheld multisystem ignition analyzer TA500 can be put to use as follows:
When you place the capacitive sensor of the antenna over the ignition coil wire, a spark plug or on top of a Coil on Plug module, it displays spark burn time and spark peak voltage.
For the device to work as a tachometer, the ignition system type and number of cycles have to be first set. Then the capacitive sensor can be placed on the spark plug wire or Coil on Plug module. The RPM will now be displayed on the LCD screen.
The users can set the display either to show all the three measurements – spark burn time, spark plug voltage and RPM – simultaneously or one measurement alone in real time with maximum/minimum readings of the selected parameter.
Maximum/minimum readings capture the spark burn time and spark peak voltage and enable users to test ignition systems and diagnose no-start conditions.
